Bulandshahr. Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in the last two-three days in Hathras region of Uttar Pradesh have caused heavy damage to crops like paddy, millet, pigeon pea (tuvar), and urad.
Similarly, there is a possibility of destruction of Kharif crops due to floods in more than a dozen villages of Moradabad district. Many crops have fallen in the fields while they are filled with water and mud.
There is a possibility of heavy damage to Kharif crops due to the change in weather. Late monsoon rains in many districts of Uttar Pradesh are proving to be fatal for early sown crops.
Farmers of Hathras region have demanded immediate compensation from the government by conducting a survey of the damage to the crop.
According to agricultural experts, this storm and rain will not only bring moisture in the average yield rate but will also affect the quality of grains of various crops.
If water remains stagnant in the fields for a long time, the pigeon pea and urad crops will be damaged. Farmers are quite worried and troubled due to this loss.
In Moradabad and some other districts, flood-like conditions have arisen in the lower areas due to the water released from Nepal.
On the other hand, some districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh are also facing the havoc of floods. Experts believe that if the water is not drained out from the fields in the next one or two days, the extent of crop damage will increase.
It is worth mentioning that in states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,
Kharif crops have already suffered heavy losses due to heavy rains and floods, while now the devastation has started in Uttar Pradesh. It is expected that the monsoon will remain active till the end of September.
