Desi Chana Price Trend Report
★ Over the past five years, the Desi Chana market has shown overall strength despite fluctuations. In major mandis like Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, and Bikaner, prices have consistently exhibited an upward trend.
★ In 2020, prices started at around ₹4,000–₹4,200 per quintal and rose steadily to cross the ₹6,000+ level by 2023.
★ By mid-2024, prices surged above ₹7,000 per quintal, but with the opening of imports and increased availability of foreign chana, the market came under pressure and rates declined.
★ Prices gradually corrected and settled around ₹5,800–₹6,000 per quintal.
★ In 2025, the market is once again witnessing strength due to festive season demand and reduced imports.
★ By August 2025, prices have climbed to around ₹6,200–₹6,400 per quintal.
★ Some correction from profit-booking could bring prices slightly lower and stabilize.
★ Similar trends of reduced imports may continue until October.
★ After the fall in 2024 caused by import openings, Desi Chana prices are now rising again. Backed by festive demand and limited imports, the market outlook until October remains strong and stable.
