Desi Chickpeas: Price fluctuations continue
★ Prices of chickpeas had risen about 15 days ago, but profit-taking at higher levels led to a decline.
★ Demand for desi chickpeas and besan is now gradually emerging, and imports of desi chickpeas from abroad have remained low.
★ Very small quantities of chickpeas were imported in July.
★ From October, Australia’s new crop will start arriving in Indian markets.
★ Until then, consumption of both domestic and imported chickpeas will increase, meaning demand will pick up.
★ IGrain India believes there is a strong possibility of price increases in chickpeas until October.
