Edible Oil Import Update: SEA
★ Edible oil imports dropped by 9% between April 2024 and May 2025.
★ In May 2025, total vegetable oil imports stood at 1.187 million tons, down 22% from May 2024.
Edible oils: 1.175 million tons
Non-edible oils: 12,040 tons

★ On 30 May 2025, the Government reduced the basic import duty on crude edible oils (palm, soybean, sunflower) from 20% to 10%.
Domestic Stock as of 1 June 2025:
Port stock: 685,000 tons
Pipeline stock: 648,000 tons
★ Total stock: 1.333 million tons (down from 1.351 million tons on 1 May)

Nov 2024 – May 2025 Overview:
★ Refined oil (RBD palmolein) imports: 819,000 tons (↓ from 1.236 million tons last year)
★ Crude oil imports: 6.858 million tons (↓ from 7.331 million tons last year)
★ Share of refined oil fell to 11%, while crude oil rose to 89%

Sharp Surge in Soft Oil Imports:
★ Soft oil imports: 4.347 million tons (↑ from 3.590 million tons last year)
★ Palm oil imports: 3.329 million tons (↓ from 4.977 million tons)
★ Palm oil share: dropped from 58% to 43%
★ Soft oil share: rose from 42% to 57%
★ Import of 60,000–70,000 tons/month of refined oil from Nepal continues, affecting India’s overall import volumes and stock levels.
