Exporters will get relief by increasing the scope of issuing COO

The update about the introduction of the Advanced Certificate of Origin (COO) 2.0 system sounds like a significant development for exporters! By moving to an electronic platform for issuing COO, the government seems to be making it much easier and more efficient for exporters to claim duty exemptions under free trade agreements (FTAs).
It also streamlines the entire process, which is especially beneficial for high-volume exporters who need to issue certificates quickly.
With the mandatory shift to electronic filing of non-preferential certificates starting in January 2025, the expected increase in efficiency could have a major impact on reducing administrative delays and improving transparency in trade.
This could open doors for smaller businesses to enter international markets too, as the new system would simplify procedures and make access to multiple markets more feasible.
Do you think this will make a big difference in trade practices for exporters in India, especially smaller ones?
