No possibility of recession
New Delhi. Currently, due to lack of export demand, the prices of fenugreek remain stable. But during the current week, due to increase in local demand, prices have strengthened by Rs 50/100 per quintal. Sources say that due to decrease in arrivals in the markets, the prices of fenugreek are likely to rise in the coming days. Currently, the price of average quality fenugreek is being quoted at Rs 4700/5200 per quintal at the mandis of producing centers.
Informed traders believe that due to the producers not getting the right price for their yield during the current season, there is a possibility of reduction in the area of fenugreek sowing for the coming year. It is worth mentioning that in the year 2024, fenugreek was sown on 1.28 lakh hectares at the producing centers, whereas for the year 2025, the sowing area was 1.30 lakh hectares. Fenugreek is mainly produced in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The sowing of fenugreek at the production centers will start in the month of October.
Total availability low
During the current season, although the production has increased as compared to last year, the total availability has decreased due to less outstanding stock. According to an estimate, the production of fenugreek during the current season is considered to be 18/19 lakh quintals, apart from this the outstanding stock is considered to be about 1.5 lakh quintals. Whereas last year at the time of arrival of new crop, the outstanding stock was about 4 lakh quintals and the production was 17/18 lakh quintals.
Incoming
The arrival at the mandis of the current production centers has remained quite low. According to the information received, the major mandis of Madhya Pradesh, Javra and Neemuch, have remained 1500/2000 sacks, whereas the arrival in Rajkot mandi of Gujarat is going on at 300/400 sacks. The arrival in Narela Mandi of Rajasthan has remained 500/600 bags and in Kota the arrival has remained 200/250 bags.
No recession
Traders say that there is no possibility of recession in the current prices of fenugreek. In the coming days, if the export demand emerges, the prices are likely to rise. Apart from this, sowing is also likely to be less this year. Which will become the reason for the rise in the coming days. Trade estimates are that in the coming days, the prices of fenugreek should rise by Rs 300/500 per quintal. Whereas at present the price of average quality of fenugreek is being quoted at Rs 4700/5200.
Exports higher
According to the data released by the Spices Board, a 29 percent increase has been registered in the exporters of fenugreek in the first two months of the year 2025-26.
