New Delhi. Additional Director General, Department of Food and Public Distribution, under the Union Ministry of Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution has sent a letter to Sudhakar Desai, President of Indian Vegetable Oil Producers Association (IVPA), an important organization of the indigenous edible oil industry and trade sector,

urging him to encourage the members of his organization to register in the 'National Single Window System (NSWS) and ensure compliance with the rules contained in the new revised format of the Vegetable Oil Products, Production and Availability (Regulation) Order, 2011.

The letter said that the necessary changes made in the VOPPA Regulation Order 2011 are aimed at strengthening regulation, improving data collection and ensuring better transparency in the edible oil industry.

With this amendment, the VOPPA Order has now been rationalized with the recent institutional changes including the merger of key directorates. Data collection has now been brought under the Statistics Collection Act 2008, which will enable better monitoring of domestic production,

imports and stock levels of edible oils. Along with this, the government will also be able to take appropriate measures at the right time, which will make it easier to adjust import duty and facilitate imports to smoothen the supply and availability of edible oils in the domestic sector and maintain price stability.

But for this, it will be mandatory for edible oil manufacturers, processors, re-packers and other related parties to get themselves registered on the National Single Window System (NSWS).

After this, the registered class will have to start the process of submitting their monthly returns through the revised WOPPA portal within the prescribed time limit. These classes are required to participate in it.

Those who have already registered on the old WOPPA portal will only have to submit their production data on the new (revised) WOPPA portal. Its process is easy. IVPA has been requested to encourage its members to register and submit their data as early as possible.
