Good momentum in maize sowing: Significant increase in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Rajasthan
★ During the Kharif season 2025, maize sowing has picked up strong momentum. As of July 11, 2025, a total of 61.88 lakh hectares have been sown under maize across the country, compared to 40.21 lakh hectares during the same period last year — marking a significant increase of 21.67 lakh hectares.

State-wise status (as per data released by State Agriculture Departments):
Maharashtra (till 14.07.2025):
★ This year, maize has been sown in 12.35 lakh hectares, compared to 9.75 lakh hectares last year — an increase of 2.60 lakh hectares.
Karnataka (till 11.07.2025):
★ Sowing has reached 14.93 lakh hectares so far, up from 13.00 lakh hectares last year — a rise of 1.93 lakh hectares.
Rajasthan (till 14.07.2025):
★ Maize sowing in Rajasthan has reached 9.14 lakh hectares this year, up from 8.14 lakh hectares last year — a growth of 1.00 lakh hectares.
Gujarat (till 14.07.2025):
★ Maize has been sown on 1.60 lakh hectares, compared to 2.26 lakh hectares last year — a decline of 0.66 lakh hectares.
Telangana (till 16.07.2025):
★ This year, 4.49 lakh hectares have been sown under maize, while last year it was 2.89 lakh hectares — an increase of 1.60 lakh hectares.
★ In these five major states, total maize sowing has reached 42.51 lakh hectares this year, compared to 36.04 lakh hectares during the same period last year — an increase of 6.47 lakh hectares.
★ Across the country, farmers are showing a strong inclination toward maize cultivation this year.
★ If the monsoon continues to be favorable, maize production could reach record levels.
