GrainCorp, a major Australian grain buyer and exporter, has received a total of 94.19 lakh tonnes of grains in the current marketing season, as of 9 December 2024. This includes:
- 17 lakh tonnes from Queensland
- 62.88 lakh tonnes from New South Wales
- 14.32 lakh tonnes from Victoria
Last week alone, the company received 3.81 lakh tonnes of grain, with the breakdown as follows:
- 2,500 tonnes from Queensland
- 1,09,600 tonnes from New South Wales
- 2,69,500 tonnes from Victoria
The harvesting of winter crops in Queensland and northern New South Wales is nearly complete, and the company anticipates receiving some additional grain from the Veris Kriel area, potentially pushing the total receipt closer to 100 lakh tonnes.
Grain delivery has been delayed in recent weeks due to heavy rains in parts of New South Wales and Victoria, particularly in the southern areas of New South Wales. However, with improving weather conditions, producers are optimistic about accelerating grain supplies in the coming days. Despite the weather challenges, there are concerns about wheat quality deteriorating due to the heavy rainfall.
GrainCorp has also been actively transporting over 2 lakh tonnes of grain to secure locations, and other companies are also working to procure grain in various provinces of Australia.
