Grain procurement in Punjab
★ According to data presented in the Lok Sabha, wheat procurement in Punjab was 9.645 million tonnes in 2022-23, which increased to 12.112 million tonnes in 2023-24 and further to 15.7 million tonnes in 2024-25, showing a steady rise in wheat procurement.
★ In contrast, paddy procurement declined. It was 18.611 million tonnes in 2022-23, fell slightly to 18.528 million tonnes in 2023-24, and further dropped to 17.333 million tonnes in 2024-25.
