Groundnut Sowing Analysis (Data as of 7th and 9th July 2025)
★ Groundnut Sowing Surges Sharply, Gujarat and Rajasthan Lead the Way
★ As of now in 2025, groundnut (peanut) sowing has seen a remarkable surge, especially in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan.
★ In Gujarat, the sowing area has reached 17.59 lakh hectares — an impressive increase of 3.50 lakh hectares compared to last year.
★ Rajasthan has also shown strong growth with an increase of 1.82 lakh hectares, bringing total sowing to 7.83 lakh hectares.
★ On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh recorded a decline of 0.34 lakh hectares, and Maharashtra also saw a drop of 0.26 lakh hectares.
★ In these four major states, total groundnut sowing stands at 26.70 lakh hectares, which is 4.73 lakh hectares more than the previous year.
★ At the all-India level, groundnut sowing has reached 26.74 lakh hectares — reflecting a significant rise of 9.01 lakh hectares over last year.
★ According to IGrain India, groundnut acreage is likely to increase further this year. Government procurement of groundnut remains strong, and consumption in the snack food industry continues to grow year after year.
★ Supportive prices during procurement season are expected to encourage more sowing.
