Gujarat Kharif Sowing Analysis
★ According to the Gujarat Agriculture Department, as of July 7, groundnut sowing reached 17.59 lakh hectares, surpassing the state's average area. This is a significant increase compared to 14.09 lakh hectares sown during the same period last year.
★ Cotton sowing reached 17.10 lakh hectares, about 67.5% of the normal area, slightly lower than last year’s 18.6 lakh hectares. Farmers in Saurashtra and North Gujarat took advantage of timely rainfall and began sowing early.
★ If this trend continues, production is expected to rise by at least 15% this season.

Other crop sowing developments include:
★ Bajra: Up from 24,802 hectares last season to 52,295 hectares
★ Moong: Increased from 5,790 to 12,080 hectares
★ Urad: Rose from 8,125 to 11,085 hectares
★ Soybean: Slightly increased to 1.56 hectares
★ Maize: Exceeded 80,000 hectares, close to last year’s levels
★ Tur (Pigeon pea): Declined from 58,838 to 48,717 hectares
