Heavy rains in Maharashtra for the past 10 days; damage survey to be conducted
★ The state agriculture minister said that rains in August have affected more than 2 million acres of crops across 19 districts. The impacted crops include cotton, maize, soybean, pigeon pea (tur), black gram (urad), green gram (moong), sugarcane, sorghum (jowar), and turmeric.
★ The worst-affected districts are reported to be Nanded, Washim, Yavatmal, Buldhana, Akola, Solapur, Hingoli, Parbhani, Jalgaon, and Amravati.
★ The government has ordered a survey to assess the extent of the damage.
