The Union Food Ministry's decision to increase the wheat quota by 5 lakh tonnes under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) reflects an effort to control wheat prices and ensure adequate supply in the domestic market.
By increasing the quota from 25 lakh tonnes to 30 lakh tonnes, and also ramping up the weekly sale from 1 lakh tonnes to 1.5 lakh tonnes, the government aims to improve wheat availability and stabilize prices.
This move should help the Food Corporation of India (FCI) manage its purchases effectively for the central pool, ultimately benefiting consumers by addressing price fluctuations in the market.
Do you think this step will be enough to curb the rising wheat prices, or do you anticipate further measures may be needed?
