India Considering Purchase of U.S. Corn for Ethanol Production: Report
★ Options to increase energy imports are also part of the talks. 
★ India wants the U.S. to remove the 25% punitive tariff imposed on Indian oil purchases from Russia.
★ Washington has long urged India to increase imports of U.S. corn and soybeans, but India has been cautious due to concerns over genetically modified (GM) crops.
★ Both sides are exploring a phased solution.
★ From September 22–24, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal visited Washington and met U.S. representatives — the first face-to-face meeting since the tariff hike in August.
★ In August 2025, India’s exports to the U.S. stood at $6.86 billion, while imports were $3.6 billion.
