Mumbai. Although the official data from the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has not yet been released, estimates from Malaysia’s leading cargo surveyor firms indicate that Malaysian palm oil exports increased in September compared to August, with India contributing significantly to this growth.
According to a report by leading private cargo surveyor company Intertek Testing Services (ITS), Malaysia exported about 14.22 lakh tonnes of palm oil products in August, which rose to 15.58 lakh tonnes in September 2025. Within this, crude palm oil (CPO) exports increased slightly from 3.11 lakh tonnes to 3.13 lakh tonnes, RBD palm oil exports rose from 99,000 tonnes to 1.19 lakh tonnes, RBD palmolein shipments jumped from 2.67 lakh tonnes to 3.18 lakh tonnes, crude palm kernel oil exports went up from 28,000 tonnes to 36,000 tonnes, and palm fatty acid distillate exports surged from 31,000 tonnes to 68,000 tonnes. However, RBD palm stearin shipments fell from 1.36 lakh tonnes in August to 1.24 lakh tonnes in September.
ITS data shows that Malaysia’s palm oil exports to India rose sharply from 3,02,150 tonnes in August to 3,93,530 tonnes in September 2025, driven by festive season demand. Meanwhile, exports to the European Union dropped from 3,60,650 tonnes to 3,51,327 tonnes, and shipments to China fell sharply from 1,07,510 tonnes to 45,290 tonnes.
Earlier, another cargo surveyor firm, AmSpec, had estimated Malaysia’s crude and refined palm oil product exports to have risen from 13.42 lakh tonnes in August to 14.4 lakh tonnes in September.
