India’s Edible Oil Imports Expected to Hit 4-Year Low: Sources
★ India's edible oil imports in February 2025 are expected to decline by 12% to 884,000 tons, marking the lowest level since February 2021.
★ After hitting a 14-year low in January, palm oil imports are likely to rise by 36% to 374,000 tons in February. However, soyoil imports may drop by 36% to 284,000 tons (the lowest in 8 months), and sunflower oil imports may decline by 22% to 226,000 tons (the lowest in 5 months).
★ Due to lower imports, total edible oil stocks are expected to shrink by 26% to 1.6 million tons, the lowest in 4 years.
★ With reduced imports and the upcoming festive demand, prices are expected to rise in the coming months.
