India's Rice Output May Hit Record 151 Million Tonnes in 2025-26: USDA
★ The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has projected that India’s rice production could reach a record 151 million tonnes in the 2025-26 crop year.
★ In May 2025, the USDA had estimated the output at 148 million tonnes, but the figure has been revised upward in its June assessment.
★ With this, India is once again likely to retain its position as the world’s largest rice producer.
★ According to the Indian government’s third advance estimate, rice production in the 2024-25 season is expected to be 149 million tonnes.
★ The USDA has also projected that India could export a record 25 million tonnes of rice in 2025-26.
