Indonesia Imposes Temporary Ban on Indian Peanut Imports

Mumbai. A leading oilseed exporting body - Indian Oil Seeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEPC) has issued an important and necessary information for all its members.
It said that the Council has been informed by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), a subordinate body of the Union Ministry of Commerce, that it was sent a letter by the Indonesia Quarantine Authority (IQA) on 27 August 2025, informing about the temporary ban on the import of Indian peanuts / singdana in Indonesia due to non-compliance of the terms and conditions.
Earlier, Indonesia had informed about taking action for notification of non-compliance of the rules and conditions and now has decided to suspend the import of peanuts.
This decision will come into effect within 7 (seven) days from the date of the letter issued by the Indonesian Quarantine Authority i.e. 27 August 2025 and the import of peanuts from India will remain closed till further orders.
But relief has been given for consignments of goods coming in transition. In the letter issued for APEDA, it has been said that peanut consignments with Bill of Lading up to 7 days prior date from 27 August 2025 will be accepted in Indonesia but it will be risk-based investigation and it will be re-tested at the entry point of Indonesia.
Only those consignments which pass this will be accepted. If any consignment (peanut) does not meet this criterion, it will be rejected. This arrangement will remain in effect until any other arrangement is notified by the Infectious Disease Prevention Authority (IQA) of Indonesia.
The Council has cautioned all its exporting members in the light of this letter of the Authority and suggested taking necessary precautions. Exporters have been asked to take care of all aspects before exporting peanuts to Indonesia.
