Indonesia to stop diesel imports from July 1; roll out B50 biofuel
Indonesia will stop diesel imports from July 1, 2026, and implement the B50 biofuel program, comprising 50% diesel and 50% crude palm oil (CPO).
Around 3.5 million tonnes (35 lakh tonnes) of CPO has been allocated for the B50 program, while a total of about 5.3 million tonnes (53 lakh tonnes) will be converted into biofuel.
Indonesia’s CPO production has recently increased by about 6 million tonnes (60 lakh tonnes), while exports have risen from 26 million tonnes (260 lakh tonnes) to 32 million tonnes (320 lakh tonnes).
The government said higher production will ensure that diverting CPO for biofuel will not significantly impact exports.
The development is likely to lend support to global edible oil prices.
