Jakarta. Data released by the Statistics Department of Indonesia, the world's leading producer and exporter of palm oil, shows that the export of all products of the country increased by 11.29 percent to $23.44 billion during June 2025 as compared to June 2024.

In fact, before the new tariff was implemented in the US, Indonesian exporters made a strong effort to increase the export of palm oil there and also achieved good success in it.

In May also, the export of palm oil products from Indonesia increased by 9.68 percent. In terms of quantity, exports in June were 15.1 percent higher.

Along with this, a spectacular increase of 24.91 percent was recorded in the export of Indonesian palm oil during the first half of the current year i.e. January-June 2025.

On the other hand, total imports in Indonesia in June rose by only 4.28 percent to reach $19.33 billion, while it was estimated to grow by 6.5 percent.

As a result, Indonesia's trade profit increased more than expected to $4.11 billion, which was more than the earlier estimate of $3.45 billion, but a little less than the trade profit of $4.30 billion in May.

The US had earlier announced a tariff of 32 percent on Indonesian products, but after an agreement in July, it was reduced to 19 percent. Indonesia had agreed to reduce import duty on many industrial goods and agricultural products of the US and increase imports from the US.

It is worth noting that the US imports 85 percent of its palm oil requirement from Indonesia, which gives the exporting country a good income.

Earlier, it was reported that Indonesia would be allowed to supply palm oil at zero duty to the member countries of the European Union, but no final decision has been taken on this yet.

India is the biggest exporter of palm oil from Indonesia and it earns attractive income from it. Many other countries including China also import a good amount of palm oil from Indonesia.
