The USDA reported a private export sale of 135,000 metric tons of corn this morning, with 29,000 MT for the 2024/25 marketing year and 106,000 MT for 2025/26.
According to Crop Progress data as of July 6, 18% of the US corn crop was in the silking stage—3 percentage points ahead of the normal pace—while 3% had reached the dough stage. Crop condition ratings improved by 1% to 74% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index rising by 3 points to 385.
For the week ending July 3, the USDA reported total corn export shipments at 1.491 million metric tons (58.7 million bushels), up 7.97% from the previous week and 45.63% above the same week last year. Mexico received 654,044 MT, Japan 313,846 MT, and South Korea 136,068 MT.
Marketing year-to-date corn exports now total 56.446 million metric tons (2.222 billion bushels), up 29.69% from the same period last year.
CFTC data as of July 1 showed speculators increasing their net short position in corn futures and options by 24,181 contracts, bringing the total to 206,463 contracts.
