The annual ProFarmer Crop Tour began on Monday, with Ohio’s crop estimated at 185.69 bushels per acre (bpa), higher than last year’s 183.29 bpa and the 3-year average of 180.47 bpa. USDA has projected a year-over-year increase of 19 bpa. South Dakota’s yield was pegged at 174.18 bpa, up 17.67 bpa from last year’s tour and 30.05 bpa above the 3-year average. USDA’s latest report last Tuesday had suggested only a 4 bpa increase from last year. Results for Nebraska and Indiana will be released tonight.
According to Monday afternoon’s Crop Progress report, as of Sunday, the US corn crop was 72% in the dough stage, 27% dented, and 3% mature. Crop conditions slipped 1 point this week to 71% good/excellent, with the Brugler500 index at 382. Notable improvements were seen in Illinois (+2), Iowa (+1), Missouri (+3), and Nebraska (+1), while declines were reported in Indiana (-1), Minnesota (-4), North Dakota (-2), Ohio (-2), and South Dakota (-1).
ANEC estimates Brazil’s corn exports for August at 8.05 MMT, up 0.08 MMT from last week’s projection.
