USDA reported private export sales of 125,741 MT of corn to Mexico and 100,000 MT to Colombia, all for the 2025/26 crop year. Analysts estimate that before Thursday morning’s Export Sales report, old crop net sales may decline by 100,000 MT, leaving total net sales at around 300,000 MT. New crop sales for the week ending August 14 are expected between 0.9 and 2 MMT.
On Day 2 of the annual ProFarmer Crop Tour, Nebraska yields were estimated at 179.5 bpa, above last year’s 173.25 bpa and the 3-year average of 166.33 bpa, but below the 2021 record. USDA has projected a 4 bpa year-over-year increase. Indiana yield was pegged at 193.82 bpa, up 6.28 bpa from last year and 10.71 bpa above the 3-year average. USDA had projected a 7 bpa year-over-year increase in its last report.
EIA data for the week ending August 15 showed ethanol production at 1.072 million barrels per day, down 21,000 bpd from the prior week and marking a 12-week low. Ethanol stocks rose by 39,000 barrels to 22.688 million barrels. Exports were a 19-week high at 172,000 bpd, while refiner inputs slipped by 4,000 barrels to 925,000 bpd.
The Buenos Aires Grains Exchange estimates Argentina’s 2025/26 corn planting area to rise 9.6% to 7.8 million hectares (19.27 million acres).
