According to CFTC’s Commitment of Traders data, corn speculators added 9,977 contracts to their net short position during the week ending June 10. As of Tuesday, their total net short position stood at 164,020 contracts. In the next 7 days, areas from eastern Kansas, Missouri, and parts of the Eastern Corn Belt are expected to receive rainfall through Monday. Parts of the Western Corn Belt into northern Illinois are also forecast to see rain by the middle of next week. Weekly Export Sales data showed total corn commitments at 65.929 million metric tons, now at 98 percent of the newly revised export estimate and slightly behind the 99 percent five-year average pace. Actual FAS shipments are at 51.541 million metric tons, which is 76.5 percent of USDA's estimate and behind the 78 percent average shipping pace.
