ICE cotton futures ended Monday’s session with contracts up by 28 to 69 points. Crude oil prices fell by $1.59 to $66.86 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index rose $0.256 to 97.785.
Weekly Crop Progress data showed 61% of the U.S. cotton crop in the squaring stage and 23% setting bolls. Crop condition ratings improved by 2% to 54% good to excellent, with the Brugler500 index up 3 points to 339.
On Friday, The Seam reported 538 bales sold online at an average price of 62 cents/lb. On July 10, the Cotlook A Index fell 15 points to 78.45.
ICE cotton stocks dropped by 824 bales on July 11 due to decertification, bringing certified stocks down to 34,509 bales.
USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) was reduced by 63 points last Thursday afternoon to 54.71 cents/lb.
