International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures surged on Tuesday, with contracts closing 40 to 80 points higher. Crude oil fell by $0.26 per barrel to $66.72, while the U.S. dollar index rose by $0.572 to $98.335.
The weekly Crop Progress report showed a 2% improvement in cotton crop conditions, bringing the good to excellent rating to 54%. The Brugler500 index rose by 3 points to 339. Texas saw a 5-point increase, while Georgia’s ratings dropped by 13 points.
The Cotlook A Index was down 15 points on July 10 to 78.05. As of July 14, ICE cotton stocks declined by 275 bales through decertification, leaving certified stocks at 34,234 bales. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) was reduced by 63 points on Thursday afternoon to 54.71 cents per pound.
