International Cotton Market
ICE Cotton futures closed Wednesday’s session 4 to 10 points higher, with thinly traded October up 39 points. Outside markets were supportive, as the U.S. dollar index was steady, up just \$0.011 to \$98.130, while crude oil futures rose \$1.11.
The Seam reported 692 bales sold in Tuesday’s online auction at an average price of 63 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index was up 15 points to 79.30 cents on August 18. ICE certified cotton stocks were down 1,011 bales on August 19, leaving total stocks at 16,006 bales. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) rose 66 points last week to 55.05 cents/lb and will be updated again on Thursday.
