International Cotton Market
ICE cotton futures posted losses of 10 to 20 points across most contracts on Thursday, while the lightly traded October contract dropped 75 points. The US Dollar Index was up \$0.455 on the day to 98.535, while crude oil futures gained \$0.27.
Export sales data showed total cotton sales of 105,373 RB for the week ending August 14, down from last week. The top buyer was Vietnam at 35,800 RB, followed by Pakistan with 28,100 RB. Shipments also declined, to 123,292 RB, with Vietnam the top destination at 31,100 RB and Bangladesh at 18,500 RB.
The Cotlook A Index fell 35 points to 78.95 cents on August 20. ICE certified stocks were unchanged at 16,006 bales. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) rose 48 points on Thursday to 55.53 cents/lb.
