ICE Cotton futures closed Thursday’s session down 42 to 50 points under outside pressure. The US dollar index rose $0.214 on the day to 97.595, while crude oil fell $1.10 per barrel.
Wednesday’s online auction from The Seam reported 2,158 sales at an average price of 62.98 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose 25 points on October 1 to 77.15 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks were unchanged on October 1 at 17,891 bales. USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) was not reported Thursday due to the government shutdown.
