International Cotton Market:
ICE Cotton Futures: On Friday, ICE cotton futures saw a decline of 39 to 51 points, reaching new lows. The March cotton futures closed the week 173 points lower.
External Markets: Mixed trends were observed in the external markets, with crude oil futures rising by $1.08 per barrel, while the US dollar index ended the day up by 719 points.
CFTC Data: According to CFTC data, analysts added 5,135 contracts to their cotton futures and options positions by January 28, bringing their net short position to a record 53,574 contracts.
Export Sales Data: Weekly export sales data shows that total export commitments for the marketing year have reached 8.697 million bales (RB), which is 85% of the USDA’s export forecast, while the average sales pace was 86%.
Online Sales: On January 30, The Seam reported an online sale of 1,969 bales at an average price of 59.94 cents per pound.
ICE Cotton Stocks & Index: ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged on Thursday, with certified stocks at 218 bales. On January 30, the Cotlook A Index fell by 25 points to 77.80 cents per pound. The USDA's adjusted world price (AWP) rose by 31 points from the previous week to 54.02 cents per pound.
