International Cotton Market
In Tuesday’s session, ICE cotton futures closed down by 30 to 51 points. Crude oil futures declined by $0.88 per barrel, while the U.S. Dollar Index also closed lower by $0.095 on the day.
S&P Global estimates that cotton planting in the U.S. for 2025 will cover 10.2 million acres, which is 250,000 acres less than their January estimate and 1 million acres lower than last year, if realized. The USDA’s official survey report will be released at the end of March as the “Intentions Report.”
On Monday, The Seam’s online auction recorded sales of 1,950 bales, with an average price of 58.65 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose by 85 points on March 17, reaching 79.25 cents per pound. ICE cotton stocks remained steady on March 17, with certified stocks totaling 14,488 bales.
Last Thursday, the USDA raised the weekly Adjusted World Price (AWP) by 188 points, bringing it up to 53.76 cents per pound.
