International Cotton Market
On Thursday, ICE cotton futures closed with a loss of 5 to 10 points, slightly above the day’s lows. Crude oil prices fell by $1.43 per barrel, and the U.S. Dollar Index declined by $0.193 to 100.680.
According to USDA’s export sales report for the week ending May 8:
2024/25 upland cotton sales totaled 122,192 round bales (RB), a four-week high.
Vietnam bought 95,600 RB
Bangladesh bought 26,200 RB
New crop sales totaled 34,232 RB, including 25,400 RB to Honduras.
Export shipments during the same week were 329,176 RB, a three-week low.
120,800 RB were shipped to Vietnam
66,200 RB to Pakistan
51,900 RB to Turkey
On Wednesday, 1,145 bales were sold on The Seam’s online auction, with an average price of 59.55 cents per pound.
The Cotlook A Index dropped by 25 points on Wednesday to 78.00.
As of May 14, ICE cotton stocks remained unchanged at 33,100 bales. The USDA-adjusted world price (AWP) fell by 91 points to 53.90 cents per pound.
