ICE cotton futures retreated from early session gains, though contracts were still up 3 to 5 points by midday. Crude oil futures were down 76 cents per barrel at $56.40. The US dollar index was up 0.173 at 98.335.
Tuesday’s online auction from The Seam showed sales of 41,576 bales at an average price of 61.13 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose by 65 points on January 6 to 74.70 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks were steady on January 6, with certified stocks totaling 11,510 bales. The Adjusted World Price was updated last week to 50.76 cents per pound, up 74 points from the previous week.
