USDA reported private export sales of 123,000 MT of soybeans to unknown destinations, including 204,650 MT to unknown during the reported period. All of these sales were for 2025/26.
Export sales data showed a net reduction of 23,775 MT in the week of August 28, an improvement from last week’s net reduction of 189,184 MT. New crop sales totaled 818,474 MT, a 4-week low, as China has not purchased a single bean so far. The largest buyer of 2025/26 soybeans that week was unknown destinations with 269,000 MT, followed by Mexico with 116,100 MT and Japan with 71,100 MT.
Soybean meal sales showed a net reduction of 4,317 MT for 2024/25, while sales for 2025/26 were reported at 145,700 MT, on the lower end of the 100,000–450,000 MT range. Soybean oil sales showed a net reduction of 144 MT for the current marketing year, while 1,821 MT were booked for 2025/26, also near the lower end of the 0–22,000 MT estimates.
Weekly CFTC data showed that as of September 2, managed money reduced their net long position in soybean futures and options by 8,854 contracts, leaving them with 11,964 contracts.
