Export sales data for the week ending August 14 showed net cancellations of just 5,738 MT for old crop soybeans. New crop sales were reported at 1.143 MMT, above estimates. That marked a marketing-year high for new crop sales and the largest combined sales total since January. The largest buyer was an unknown destination at 645,000 MT, followed by Mexico with 120,100 MT and Spain with 106,000 MT.
Soybean meal sales totaled 221,882 MT, within the expected range (a net reduction of 50,000 MT to sales of 450,000 MT). Of this, 45,684 MT was for the current MY and 176,198 MT for the next MY. Soybean oil bookings were 2,596 MT, within trade expectations of net cancellations between 10,000 and 15,000 MT.
On day three of the ProFarmer Crop Tour, soybean pod counts in Illinois averaged 1,479.22, up 4.23% from last year and 12.6% above the 3-year average. In Iowa’s western three districts, pod counts were above both the 3-year average and last year: 1,279.25 in the northwest, 1,376.15 in the west-central, and 1,562.54 pods in the southwest (per 3x3 ft section).
According to the IGC, world soybean production for 2025/26 is estimated at 430 MMT, up 2 MMT from last month. Stocks increased by 2 MMT to 85 MMT, while consumption rose by 1 MMT.
