According to the USDA, a total of 4,053 metric tons of wheat were sold for 2024/25 in the week ending June 5. New crop sales were at 388,919 metric tons, with 184,000 metric tons carried over from unshipped 2024/25 sales. Of the 2025/26 total, 97,200 metric tons were sold to Mexico, 70,000 metric tons to Indonesia and 60,200 metric tons to Japan. This morning’s Crop Production report showed wheat production steady at 1.921 billion bushels. Winter wheat data was unchanged at 1.382 billion bushels with hard red winter wheat down 2 million bushels to 782 million bushels, soft red winter wheat unchanged, and white winter wheat up 1 million bushels to 254 million bushels. The WASDE report kept old crop US wheat stocks steady at 891 million bushels while new crop stocks were reduced by 25 million bushels to 898 million bushels due to an increase in the export estimate. World old crop stocks were down 1.23 million metric tons to 263.98 million metric tons while 2025/26 stocks were lowered by 2.97 million metric tons to 262.76 million metric tons. Taiwan importers purchased 95,450 metric tons of US wheat in their overnight tender. Coceral now estimates combined EU and UK production at 143.1 million metric tons, an increase of 5.9 million metric tons from their previous estimate. Strategie Grains estimates the EU crop at 130.7 million metric tons, up 0.9 million metric tons from their prior forecast.
