International Wheat Market
The USDA’s weekly Crop Progress report showed that, as of June 15, 93% of U.S. winter wheat had headed, slightly ahead of normal. Harvest progress was slow, reaching only 10% complete by Sunday, lagging the 16% average. NASS rated the crop at 52% good to excellent, below trade expectations and down 2% from last week. This led to a 7-point drop in the Brugler500 index to 334.
Spring wheat was 4% headed by Sunday, behind the 6% average pace. However, condition ratings improved by 4% to 57% good to excellent, resulting in a 5-point rise in the Brugler500 index to 353.
Weekly Export Inspections data showed wheat shipments totaling 388,752 MT (14.28 million bushels) for the week ending June 12. This was 19.91% higher than the prior week but 5.54% below the same week last year. Nigeria was the top destination with 75,721 MT, followed by the Philippines with 66,000 MT and Thailand with 55,824 MT.
