International Wheat Market
The weekly USDA Crop Progress report showed that winter wheat harvest was 10% complete as of Sunday, behind the 16% average. Crop condition ratings were 52% good to excellent, down 2% from the previous week. The Brugler500 index dropped 7 points to 334. Much of the decline came from Nebraska (-24), Montana (-18), North Carolina (-20), Idaho (-15), Texas (-12), and Kansas (-5). Only Michigan, Ohio, and Oklahoma showed improvement.
Spring wheat condition ratings improved by 4% to 57% good to excellent. The Brugler500 index increased by 5 points to 353. Ratings in North Dakota rose by 12 points, while South Dakota was up 7 points. Other states showed declines, with Idaho down 13 points and Minnesota down 12 points.
France’s Farm Ministry reduced the country’s soft wheat harvested area by 0.01 million hectares (30,000 acres) to 4.56 million hectares (11.26 million acres). EU wheat exports for the 2024/25 marketing year (starting July 1) reached 19.76 MMT, trailing last year’s 29.81 MMT. Algeria reportedly purchased 550,000 to 570,000 MT of wheat in a tender on Tuesday.
