Weekly Commitment of Traders data showed that as of Tuesday, managed money added 8,526 contracts to their net short position in CBT wheat, taking it to 89,295 contracts. In KC wheat, speculators trimmed back 6,508 contracts from their net short, leaving it at 50,555 contracts.
USDA Export Sales data showed full-year wheat export commitments at 11.03 MMT, the largest for this week since the 2013/14 marketing year. That represents 46% of USDA’s forecast, compared to the normal pace of 43% by this point.
