Weekly CFTC data showed Chicago wheat spec traders increasing their bearish positions by 8,837 contracts, bringing the net short to 98,132 contracts as of August 19. In KC wheat, managed money added 825 contracts, bringing the net short to 51,380 contracts.
USDA’s Export Sales report from Thursday showed total wheat commitments at 11.566 MMT, the largest for this week since 2013/14. That is 49% of USDA’s export projection, compared to the normal pace of around 45%.
