Crop Progress data showed 34% of the US winter wheat crop planted, 2 points behind average. Emergence was at 13%, 1 point ahead of normal.
Export Inspections data showed 738,604 MT (27.14 mbu) of wheat exported during the week ending September 25, down 21.41% from the previous week and 33.85% below the same week last year. Nigeria was the largest buyer at 140,472 MT, followed by Bangladesh at 117,824 MT and Japan at 89,115 MT. Marketing year exports now total 9.537 MMT (350.4 mbu), up 15.12% year over year.
USDA’s Grain Stocks report will be released Tuesday. According to Bloomberg’s survey, analysts expect September 1 wheat stocks at 2.054 bbu, with estimates ranging between 1.975 and 2.22 bbu. The Small Grains Summary is expected to show all wheat production at 1.921 bbu, 6 mbu lower than the August Crop Production report.
