Export Inspections data showed that 646,564 metric tons (23.76 million bushels) of wheat were shipped during the week ending April 24. This was up 26.72% from the previous week and 28.6% higher than the same week last year. South Korea was the largest destination with 147,255 MT, followed by Mexico with 111,779 MT.
Since the start of the marketing year (June 1), total wheat exports have reached 19.46 million metric tons (715 million bushels), 14.85% higher than the same period last year.
According to the Weekly Crop Progress Report, 30% of the U.S. spring wheat crop had been planted, ahead of the 5-year average of 21% but slightly behind the 34% estimate. Emergence was reported at 5%, matching the normal pace.
For winter wheat, as of April 27, 27% of the crop was headed, 5 percentage points ahead of normal. Winter wheat conditions improved, with 49% of the crop rated good to excellent, a 4% increase. The Brugler500 Index rose by 9 points to 334.
