The market will be closed on Thursday for New Year’s Day, with a hard open at 8:30 am CST on Friday.
According to Commitment of Traders data, as of December 23 spec traders held a net short position of 91,665 contracts in CBT wheat futures and options, an increase of 24,747 contracts on the week. In KC wheat, managed money held a net short position of 24,749 contracts, a reduction of 964 contracts.
Export Sales data showed wheat sales of just 147,834 MT for the week ending December 18. This was within analysts’ estimates, which ranged from net reductions of 50,000 MT to sales of 400,000 MT. Sales were down 35.83% from last week and 75.86% below the same week last year.
