ISMA REVISES SUGAR PRODUCTION ESTIMATES
★ Net Sugar Production Estimates (2024-25 Season)
★ Initial Estimates (as of Jan 31, 2025): 272.5 lakh tons (after diverting 37.5 lakh tons for ethanol).
★ Revised Estimates (as of March 12, 2025): 264 lakh tons (after diverting 35 lakh tons for ethanol).
Current Production Status (as of March 10, 2025)
Total Sugar Production: 233.09 lakh tons.
Operational Sugar Mills: 228 across India.

Statewise detials
★ Uttar Pradesh: Improved plant cane recovery and yield may extend the crushing season until April 2025. However, mills in East and Central UP are expected to close by the end of March.
★ Maharashtra & Karnataka: Lower sugarcane yield per unit area due to reduced availability. Some mills in Karnataka might restart operations during a special crushing season in June/July 2025.
★ Closing stock at the end of the 2024-25 season (54 lakh tons) is expected to be sufficient.
★ The 2025-26 crushing season is expected to begin on time in October 2025.

Cane Payment Status
★ 80% of cane payments for the 2024-25 season have been cleared (up from 69% in mid-January 2025).
★ 99.9% of cane payments for the 2023-24 season are completed.
