Kharif 2025 Crop Estimates:
★ For the Kharif 2025 season, crop production estimates have been prepared based on the average yield of the last five years and the sown area as of 15th August 2025.
★ There is a possibility of higher production in Tuar (Pigeon Pea) and Mung, while Urad (Black Matpe) production is expected to decline significantly.
★ The five-year average yield of tur is 848 kg per hectare, with a sown area of 42.20 lakh hectares. The estimated production is likely to be 35.79 lakh tons, which is 1.62 lakh tons higher than last year’s 34.17 lakh tons.
★ Moong has an average yield of 456 kg per hectare, with 33.70 lakh hectares under cultivation. The estimated production is projected at 15.37 lakh tons, an increase of 3.83 lakh tons compared to last year’s 11.54 lakh tons.
★ Urad’s average yield is 555 kg per hectare, with a sown area of 20.82 lakh hectares. This year, production is expected to be around 11.56 lakh tons, which is 4.48 lakh tons lower than last year’s 16.04 lakh tons.
★ These estimates are based on the five-year average yield and the current sown area. However, actual production may vary depending on weather conditions and other factors.
★ Currently, flowering and pod formation have begun in moong and urad crops. The final yield will largely depend on weather conditions during pod development and maturity.
