Kharif Coarse Cereals Sowing Reaches 116.3 Lakh Hectares – Up by 16.52 Lakh Hectares
★ Sowing of coarse cereals during the Kharif 2025 season has gained momentum across India.
★ According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of July 11, 2025, a total of 116.3 lakh hectares have been brought under coarse cereals, compared to 99.78 lakh hectares during the same period last year—an increase of 16.52 lakh hectares.

Crop-wise sowing details are as follows:
★ Jowar (Sorghum): 8.00 lakh hectares, up by 0.61 lakh hectares
★ Bajra (Pearl Millet): 44.01 lakh hectares, 14.42 lakh hectares more than last year
★ Ragi (Finger Millet): 2.11 lakh hectares, a slight increase of 0.01 lakh hectares
★ Small Millets: 1.45 lakh hectares, down by 0.42 lakh hectares
★ Maize: 61.88 lakh hectares, up by 2.15 lakh hectares
★ Timely and favorable rainfall, along with high market prices, have contributed to rapid sowing, especially of Bajra and Maize.
