Kharif Oilseeds Sowing at 137.27 Lakh Hectares So Far – Soybean Area Declines
★ As of July 11, 2025, total oilseeds sowing during the Kharif season has reached 137.27 lakh hectares, slightly lower than 139.98 lakh hectares recorded during the same period last year. This marks a decline of 2.55 lakh hectares.

Crop-wise sowing status is as follows:
★ Groundnut: 32.99 lakh hectares, 4.95 lakh hectares higher than last year
★ Soybean: 99.03 lakh hectares, 8.75 lakh hectares lower than last year
★ Sunflower: 0.49 lakh hectares, marginal rise of 0.01 lakh hectares
★ Sesame (Til): 4.48 lakh hectares, up by 1.36 lakh hectares
★ Niger: 0.23 lakh hectares, down by 0.09 lakh hectares
★ Castor: 0.24 lakh hectares, slight increase of 0.01 lakh hectares
★ Other Oilseeds: 0.03 lakh hectares, up by 0.01 lakh hectares
★ A prolonged period of low soybean prices has discouraged sowing this year, while crops like groundnut and sesame have seen increased acreage.
