Kharif Oilseeds Sowing Pace Ahead of Last Year
★ As per the Agriculture Department, by July 4, groundnut sowing in the country surged by 9 lakh hectares year-on-year to reach 26.74 lakh hectares, while soybean sowing increased by 3.5 lakh hectares to 79 lakh hectares.
★ Sesame (til) sowing also rose by 90,000 hectares compared to last year, reaching 1.88 lakh hectares.
★ With the monsoon arriving earlier than usual this year, an increase in sowing was expected. More clarity in sowing figures is likely to emerge in the next 15–20 days.
