Kharif pulses sowing up by 13.70 lakh hectares – Agriculture Ministry
★ There has been a significant increase in the sowing of pulses during the 2025 Kharif season across the country.
★ According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of July 11, 2025, pulses have been sown over 67.09 lakh hectares, compared to 53.39 lakh hectares during the same period last year – marking an increase of 13.70 lakh hectares.

Crop-wise sowing status is as follows:
★ Tur (Arhar/Pigeon Pea): 25.42 lakh ha, down by 1.76 lakh ha from last year
★ Urad (Black Matpe): 11.46 lakh ha, a slight decline of 0.08 lakh ha
★ Moong: 23.16 lakh ha, a sharp increase of 10.97 lakh ha over last year
★ Kulthi: 0.14 lakh ha, unchanged
★ Moth: 8.45 lakh ha, up by 0.62 lakh ha
★ Other Pulses: 2.26 lakh ha, up by 0.46 lakh ha

★ Timely monsoon and hopes of better prices have driven the increase in Moong and Moth sowing. However, Arhar and Urad have seen slight declines.
★ The drop in Tur prices has discouraged farmers, leading them to shift to other crops.
